The Windows version of VeraCrypt has seen several other improvements. The caveat is that the MSI installer can't be used if the system partition is encrypted with VeraCrypt. VeraCrypt 1.25 includes support for an MSI installler that administrators may utilize for silent mode deployments on supported Windows systems. No reasoning was provided for the dropping of support for Mac OS 10.7 and 10.8. The developers reveal that the dropping of support for the listed Windows versions was required because of "new requirements for driver code signing". The new version of the encryption software adds support for Windows on ARM64, Apple Silicon M1 and OpenBSD, but it also removes support for the following operating systems: VeraCrypt 1.25 is a major new version that changes system requirements significantly. The system needs to be restarted after a successful installation, as the new driver needs to be loaded during system start. The new version of VeraCrypt updates any existing version that is installed on the system. Note that the GitHub repo has not been updated yet as well. The encryption also builds on the hardware encryption technologies built into the particular chip.VeraCrypt 1.25 is not yet listed as a download on the official project website, but downloads are available on the project's SourceForge project page. For Mac computers with either Apple silicon or T2 chips, internal volume encryption is implemented by constructing and managing a hierarchy of keys. In macOS 11 or later, the system volume is protected by the signed system volume (SSV) feature, but the data volume remains protected by encryption. In macOS 10.15, this includes both the system volume and the data volume. Without valid login credentials or a cryptographic recovery key, the internal APFS volumes remain encrypted and are protected from unauthorized access, even if the physical storage device is removed and connected to another computer. ![]() Internal storage with FileVault turned on Authentication credentials and identity asset settings.Legacy interactive profile declarative configuration.Legacy profile declarative configuration.Subscribed Calendars declarative configuration.Google Accounts declarative configuration.Privacy Preferences Policy Control payload settings.Dynamic WEP, WPA Enterprise, and WPA2 Enterprise settings.Kernel Extension Policy payload settings.Extensible Single Sign-on Kerberos payload settings.Extensible Single Sign-on payload settings.Exchange Web Services (EWS) payload settings.Exchange ActiveSync (EAS) payload settings.Conference Room Display payload settings. ![]() Certificate Transparency payload settings.Certificate Revocation payload settings.Certificate Preference payload settings.Autonomous Single App Mode payload settings.Active Directory Certificate payload settings.Automated Certificate Management Environment (ACME) payload settings.Automated Device Enrollment MDM payload list.Configure a Mac for smart card–only authentication.Supported smart card functions on iPhone and iPad.Use a VPN proxy and certificate configuration.MacBook Air Wi-Fi specification details.MacBook Pro Wi-Fi specification details.Bundle IDs for native iPhone and iPad apps. ![]()
